Read your Zalman Yanovsky rant today on line. I saw Sebastian in Flagstaff recently and learned of the news of Sally's death only then. It blows my mind I did not know all these months since December that he was gone.

So I did a search on Google for Zal info. Your article was among the very best testimonies to this amazing and talented person. Thanks for telling the truth about him. I knew all of that stuff you said but was so glad to hear someone else say it too.

When I collect my thoughts more on this subject I would like to pass them on to you. I need to let it out, Zal was a hero of some measure to me when I was 16 and 17.

I'm happy to let you know that I'll be hosting a talk show on WTNT 570 AM in the greater DC Metropolitan Area on Saturday nights from 8 to 10.

The program is different -- its leitmotif is "talk back to the news." I will be dealing with how news media cover or don't cover various stories and, in some cases, compare how various news programs and publications cover the same story differently. . .

People familiar with other news items (or events that should have been news items or who have a connection with a news topic, who have something to say about any problems with coverage, and who would like to be considered for a telephone guest appearance, should get in touch with me by email (jutepper@erols.com).

I know from matters with which I have been involved that print, radio and TV news invariably slants or misses a good deal of what is going on. Anyone who has had such experiences, and who wants to tell our listeners about them, should get in touch with me.

I would also appreciate new ideas. Anyone with a problem as to how an important news item was or is being covered (or not covered), should contact me. I will need to know the news medium involved, the date, the author or news presenter (if any), and so on. I'd like nothing better than to be able to say, "Here's something that Al Aronowitz [or X, a friend of Al Aronowitz] has let us know about."

Of course, we'll take calls during the program. (To paraphrase voting instructions in Chicago, call early and call often.)

Please also pass this information on to your friends, relatives and acquaintances.

The invasion of Iraq has increased the possibility of terrorism. Every man, woman, and child at home and abroad is now at increased risk. The ever-growing body of evidence of this increased risk comes mainly from the government itself ---- Technicolor terror alerts, travel advisories, massive spending on homeland defense, the stocking of the bunkers in Washington for our leaders etc. The Bush Administration's willingness to devalue the lives of ordinary American citizens is very troubling. If the nation's foreign policy has resulted in a target painted on the back of every citizen, then it follows that the architects of that foreign policy must be held
accountable. This is a betrayal of the American people. Some may call it Treason.

What would be the predictable Blowback to any nation which describes its Rules of Engagement as "Shock and Awe"---or even more offensively as "Shake and Bake". What images from history are reminiscent of "Shake and Bake"?

The safety of ordinary Americans is not only compromised by threats of terrorism from outside but also from within. An Executive Order signed by George Bush authorizing assassinations has already resulted in the death of at least one American and an unknown number of others. Because our military training is so efficient at
removing the taboo against killing and abuse, the reintegration of our troops into normal society can sometimes present problems. Remember the Oklahoma City bombing, Tailhook, the murders of the Fort Bragg wives, and the ongoing rapes at The Air Force Academy. Will anyone ever forget the words, " The Chick
was in the way", as muttered by our Marine sharpshooter after he killed an Iraqi woman? War starts a lean, mean killing machine that no one knows how to shut off.

The charging of a Commander-in-Chief with Treason would present some very interesting possibilities. Among them the conundrum---what action would be legal and appropriate for a member of the military who is already deployed? One such action might be for the soldier to lay down his/her weapon and then turn himself in to
nearest chaplain and request a change in status from Combatant to Conscientious Objector. At least one such request has already been made by Marine Reservist Stephen Funk who stated, "it isn't moral to kill someone just because you signed a contract to". (NBC, April 1, 2003 7:14 am)

Every high school and college, every institute of learning indeed every home that houses informed citizens can take up this case. The entire nation can be transformed into a Moot Court. The question to be considered is, "Is the Bush Administration guilty of Treason". Let the debate begin.
